چکیده

Methods Eight elite athletes of Marathon runner (endurancetraining type), 8 of weight-lifter (strength-training type) and 8 ordinary style (medical interns) were enrolled. Each subject received a CMR study on a 1.5 T scanner including 1. cine SSPF of a stack of LV short axis for LV mass and function; 2 DT-CMR, ECG-gated stimulated echo diffuse EPI on three levels of LV. Diffuse tensor composed of 6 directions and b value = 300 mm2/ sec. 3. phase-contrast flow measurement at ascending aorta for stroke volume. The data were compared between groups and correlated between the parameters.

Diffusion MRI tractography of the human heart In Vivo at end-diastole and end-systole

Diffusion Tensor MRI (DTI) of the human heart in vivo has to date been performed in 2D and at a single phase of the cardiac cycle. Here we perform 3D tractography of the human heart in vivo at both end diastole and end systole. We show that fiber orientation in the subepicardium becomes more oblique during systole, and that scalar indices of diffusion (mean diffusivity and fractional anisotropy...

In vivo fiber tractography of the right and left ventricles using diffusion tensor MRI of the entire human heart

Background Diffusion Tensor MRI (DTI) tractography of the human heart in vivo has previously been performed with either large slice gaps or limited coverage [1,2]. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of performing DTI of the entire human heart in vivo without slice gaps. This, we hypothesized, would enhance the characterization of fiber architecture in the left ventricle (L...

Human Atlas of Cardiac Architecture from DT-MRI

1. ABSTRACT A human statistical atlas of the cardiac fiber architecture is constructed from ex-vivo diffusion tensor images and is based on a set of 10 normal human hearts. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that such study has been conducted with human data. We have developed a semi-automated method where only minimal interactions are required for the segmentation of the myoc...

In vivo Human 3D Cardiac Fibre Architecture: Reconstruction Using Curvilinear Interpolation of Diffusion Tensor Images

In vivo imaging of the cardiac 3D fibre architecture is still a challenge, but it would have many clinical applications, for instance to better understand pathologies and to follow up remodelling after therapy. Recently, cardiac MRI enabled the acquisition of Diffusion Tensor images (DTI) of 2D slices. We propose a method for the complete 3D reconstruction of cardiac fibre architecture in the l...

Evaluation of non‐Gaussian diffusion in cardiac MRI

PURPOSE The diffusion tensor model assumes Gaussian diffusion and is widely applied in cardiac diffusion MRI. However, diffusion in biological tissue deviates from a Gaussian profile as a result of hindrance and restriction from cell and tissue microstructure, and may be quantified better by non-Gaussian modeling. The aim of this study was to investigate non-Gaussian diffusion in healthy and hy...
